How will the project be funded?

  • Funds for the project will be raised by a ‘Community Share Issue’ giving everyone in the Parish the opportunity to purchase shares and subsequently a stake in the returns, typically 3-6% annually.
  • Energy generated by PTCH will be sold to the National Grid with the profits used to enhance our community. As well as financial support, the project could provide heating for the Village Hall and, in the future, for homes in the village.
  • Peter Tavy Community Hydropower aims to be a locally owned and run resource, working together and making decisions as a community with a common aim to benefit us all.

Rural Community Energy Fund (RCEF)

The Feasibility Study is supported by funding from RCEF. RCEF is a £15 million programme, delivered by WRAP and jointly funded by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and the Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC). It supports rural communities in England to develop renewable energy projects which provide economic and social benefits to the community.
